AIG companies set their roots in the region in the 1940's and has now more than 1000 employees located in 13 country operations (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, The Netherlands, Italy, Luxembourg, Germany, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland), with its regional headquarters in Paris and a technological center in Dublin.

AIG companies operate predominantly in the Commercial Insurance sector focusing on the insurance risks of large domestic and multi-national companies offering a broad array of innovative niche products in both the large account and middle market segments. Each operation is structured to provide local underwriting expertise, cross-border, pan-European, and Multi-National insurance solutions, full client service and responsive, local, claims handling to our clients under the motto 'Act locally, think globally'.

Another AIG entity, SAIL, is headquartered in Brussels and is AIG's
in-house reinsurance intermediary. SAIL places reinsurances of AIG companies in the international markets and manages a large proportion of the Group's facultative reinsurance administration. With branches in London and Hong Kong and affiliated offices in Tokyo and New York, the company employs 120 people.
